There's no Time Like the Present

In fact, there's no time but the present! The rest has either happened already or yet to happen so do your utmost to stay grounded in the present moment.

Fear of the unknown often causes us to be apprehensive about the future and it leaves a heavy weight upon our shoulders and a shadow across our faces. Regret about the past is much the same and therefore effectively useless to us as it only seems to make us ill or afraid all the time.

Stay in the moment and practice appreciating all the good things around you as well as constantly seeking to improve both yourself and your environment.

Peace.

Sometimes, Envisioning the End Result Helps One Achieve a Goal

Often, when I'm feeling lazy or discouraged about a project, personal or otherwise, I just 'stop' and all progress grinds to a halt. That's when the T.V. remote appears in my hand and a few hours consequently spent watching shows I have already seen.

It's a difficult feeling to shake. At those times I need to be inspired and motivated to get back to work and one of the most effective ways of giving myself the kick-up-up-the-backside I need is to re-visit my reasons for pursuing whatever goal it is I'm after.

I then imagine just how wonderful it will be once I have achieved my goal and am living it, every day of the rest of my life. The longer I image it the more I'm enthused with that powerful force - motivation.

Or failing that, I'll watch Rocky 1!

Peace.

Challenges are Inevitable

Such a fine piece of wisdom here.

We are all able to overcome the more mundane challenges we are familiar with, such as learning to walk as babies, learning to ride a bike, finding our first job, buying a house etc and I believe this is due to the fact that we see others overcoming these challenges all around us. What happens then is we start seeing them less as challenges and more as 'options' but make no mistake about it, they ARE challenges and as such we should give ourselves a little more credit when we overcome them.

Anyway, I'm off to challenge myself.

I hope you'll do the same my fellow explorers.

Peace. :)

Mistakes are Fundamental to the Learning Process

What a great quote this is. We often chide ourselves for making mistakes no matter how big or small they are and although this is understandable, when you consider the kind of world we live in (competitive), I think we are missing the point.

What is the point?

Mistakes:

  • motivate us to try harder
  • show us how not to do a thing
  • bring us one step closer to completion
  • help us to learn more about ourselves
  • keep our feet on the ground (humility)
  • cause us to be more creative
  • initiate growth within us because without growth we continue to make the same mistakes
I could go on but the above are the 7 main positives of mistakes. Of course, in the same vein we could easily look at mistakes from the opposite point of view, in a negative way - but why would we want to do that?

Mistakes are the lessons of wisdom. Indeed!

Peace to you all. :)
